Compensation: Up to £56,837 dependent on experience + Benefits
Role Type: Full time / Permanent
Role ID: SF55665
At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Waterfront Support Representative.
The role
As a Waterfront Support Representative, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Utilising your previous knowledge and experience, you will be able to provide input and subsequently influence the design of systems, equipment's, material selection and layout decisions. In order to achieve this, Babcock is embedding a number of support experienced personnel directly within the programme Integrated Delivery Teams (IDTs), working day-to-day alongside designers, engineers, build operations and supply chain specialists.
Day to day accountabilities:
  • Acting as the first point of contact for the design team for through-life queries whilst pro-actively engaging Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from across Waterfront sites.
  • Engaging with SMEs across the Integrated Product Support (IPS) elements to facilitate a supportable design.
  • Supporting system and equipment level supportability analysis.
  • Enactment of the supportability checklist provided within the supportability guidance document, capturing, recording, and sharing information as necessary, including: LfE, assumptions, threats, opportunities and accompanying mitigations.
  • Participation in design reviews, assisting delivery IPTs in the generation of supportability evidence to underpin high-level KDS/inform availability risks.
  • Responsible for performing an initial candidate item/asset assessment based on the formal candidate item/asset process.

This role is full time 36 hours per week. The successful candidate can work compliantly from any Babcock site or location but there is a requirement to travel to client sites averagely monthly.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
Essential experience of the Waterfront Support Representative:
  • Experience of the specification, planning and/or delivery of submarine maintenance in a core waterfront setting, particularly, but not limited to: project delivery, production planning management & delivery, commissioning, and system set-to-work.
  • Sound knowledge of Nuclear Submarine Fleet/Deep Maintenance including product safety and assurance.
  • Good communications skills and the ability to feed experience into re-shaping the design with the aim of reducing through life costs and improving availability.
  • Ability to operate within a multi-discipline team, considering the demands and impacts of various internal and external stakeholders across the entire submarine lifecycle.
  • Knowledge and experience of operating within Industrial Partner organisations.

Qualifications for the Waterfront Support Representative :
  • Ideally HND/Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification supplemented by relevant experience in an appropriate engineering discipline.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
Our Benefits
  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Contributory Pension scheme, with life assurance
  • Employee share scheme
  • Employee shopping savings portal
  • Payment of Professional Fees
  • Reservists in the armed forces receive 10-days special paid leave.
  • Holiday Trading is a benefit that allows most employees to buy additional leave or to sell up to one working week of annual leave from their annual entitlement.
  • 'Be Kind Day' enables employees to take one working day's paid leave a year (or equivalent hours) to undertake volunteering work with their chosen organisation or registered charity.
