, Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated self-starters for the full time, permanent role of Web Content Officer in the Web and Digital Team at Bangor University. This is a permanent role for which the post holder can choose to be based at either our Bangor or Wrexham campus, or work remotely with occasional on-site work in accordance with the University’s Dynamic Working framework., , The successful candidate will be responsible for editing, writing and publishing content in a clear, relevant and accessible manner while developing an engaging user experience for the University’s target audiences., , They will have previous experience in a similar role and a proven track record creating content for websites and will be a confident communicator and a skilful writer, with good language, grammar and editing skills., , The role will be key in supporting the University in increasing its discoverability in search engines inside and outside of Wales, making it relevant for Welsh, English, and broader UK audiences as well as international audiences., , Candidates should be educated to degree level in either Marketing, Journalism, Data science, Computer science or a related subject, or possess equivalent relevant experience, including previous experience in a content development role with evidence of a significant positive impact on awareness and understanding of the brand., , The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post., , Applications will be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis., , The successful candidate will be expected to commence  as soon as possible thereafter., , Committed To Equal Opportunities, , The Project
, We are looking for an ambitious and experienced professional to join the University and help us achieve search leadership in the Higher Education sector by writing, editing and creating content for the University website., , Purpose of the Job
, This role presents a rare opportunity to help shape the search strategy of Bangor University. It will involve creating and implementing successful search engine marketing and optimization strategies for the Bangor University websites. The role will be key in creating targeted copy and sharing technical and content-based SEO knowledge within the team and as well as other stakeholders, as well as defining, implementing, and reporting on search recommendations, to evidence the impact of SEO activities. The role will focus on raising the profile of the Bangor University website and its discoverability in Wales, England, and the broader UK market, as well as on key international markets., , The post holder will be integral in supporting engaging content delivery, increasing understanding of our strategic vision and improving the user experience across our external website and intranet., , They will support various content projects to improve how content is made available to our staff across Research, Education and Professional Services, as well as to our students, key stakeholders and broader external communities., , The postholder will work closely with content owners to create and maintain web pages and site sections in line with the University’s brand and communications objectives. As part of the Web and Digital Team, they will help to enforce web and digital standards while implementing the University’s governance framework., , The successful candidate will be expected to write clear, accurate and engaging copy and be able to create multi-media content. They will also have an understanding of the website’s main target audiences., , Main Duties and Responsibilities
, Writing accurate, informative, and interesting content for the University website and supporting content quality management across our website and intranet.
, Working collaboratively to support an ongoing programme to ensure Web Content meets accessibility and content standards, implementing processes to ensure content is regularly reviewed, maintained and archived.
, Updating, editing, and constantly improving the digital and Web Content to ensure its relevance and currency to the target audiences. This will include regularly updating and maintaining content on pages across the University website.
, Producing and embedding policies, guidelines, and best practice to equip the content editor network to create high-quality content and user journeys and support training and networking opportunities to help boost organisational knowledge of content optimisation.
, Ensuring that the website’s content reflects the University’s marketing strategy and brand, and complements/supports other marketing and recruitment activities and material.
, Contributing to and helping maintain and develop guidelines regarding the University’s corporate style for Web Content creation and optimisation.
, Working with the rest of the Web Team and colleagues throughout the University to ensure the quality, accessibility, accuracy, and interest of the site.
, Measuring content performance and engagement success against key performance indicators and strategic goals, providing insights into these results via regular reporting and making recommendations about improving content engagement.
, Liaising with web developers when required to implement technical improvements to the websites.
, Generating and optimising SEO content, URLs, keywords, meta tags, structure, and links. Use GTM and GA to monitor traffic, goal conversion and A/B testing.
