Weekend Telephonist

As a first point of contact for many of our guests, you will set the tone for their experience at Ashdown Park, so a good telephone manner and communication skills are vitally important. Working as part of our friendly Guest Relations team, you will be professional and courteous, ensuring all calls are dealt with promptly, offering aseamless service.

You will also be responsible for operating the pager system for locating members of staff and management. There will be some administration duties and the telephonists must be prepared to cover the front Reception desk if required.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that all incoming telephone calls are answered correctly, using the company approved wording. 
• Make early morning calls as required, using the guest’s name.
• Take any messages and input into the Opera system for guests, passing them to Porters for distribution.
• Operate bleep system for locating members of staff and management if unable to locate and pass on information required.
• At times specified transfer calls to Reception Desk
• On completion of duty, switch the Board over to Night Service and phone hotel number to test. Log off computer and switch off.
• Act as a Sales Person, promoting the image of the Hotel at all times.
• Update guest history from comment cards and letters.

Telephonist  Key Attributes

• Previous experience within the hotel industry is desired, however, training will be given.
• Good telephone manner and a friendly and polite personality
• Good communicator with a clear voice and a fluent understanding of spoken and written English.
• Knowledge of Excel would be advantageous.
