Role: Welding Coordinator for Pipe fabrication.


Welding Coordinator for pipe fabrication plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing welding activities in the fabrication of pipes. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, organizational skills, and leadership abilities.


Responsibilities:


Project Planning:

  • Collaborate with project managers to understand project requirements and timelines.
  • Develop welding plans and schedules based on project specifications.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems effectively.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that welding activities meet industry standards, codes, and project specifications.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures for welding processes.
  • Understanding of fabrication, welding and NDT techniques
  • Post-weld heat treatment is required ensure PWHT is completed in accordance with specification requirements

Supervision:

  • Oversee welding personnel, ensuring they follow safety protocols and adhere to project guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to welding teams.

Materials and Equipment:

  • Coordinate the procurement of welding materials and equipment required for pipe fabrication.
  • Inspect and approve welding materials to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of welding activities, inspections, and test results.
  • Generate reports on welding progress, quality, and any deviations from project plans.

Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce and promote a safety-first culture within the welding teams.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Safety Focus:

  • Commitment to prioritizing and promoting safety in all welding activities.
  • A Welding Coordinator in pipe fabrication plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of welding processes, contributing to the successful completion of projects.

Communication:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication between different departments, such as engineering, fabrication, and quality control.
  • Address any issues or concerns related to welding activities.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training and development opportunities for welding personnel.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new welding techniques, and advancements.

Qualifications:


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in welding engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field is often preferred. Relevant certifications may also be considered.

Experience:

  • Several years of experience in welding coordination, particularly in pipe fabrication projects.
  • Good Engineering and QA/QC background for Nuclear fabrication
  • Familiarity with various welding processes and techniques.

Certifications:

  • Certification as a Welding Inspector (CWI) or similar credentials are beneficial.
  • CSWIP Level 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector
  • PCN level 2 – Radiographic Interpretation
  • Recognised Internal Auditor qualification
  • ONC/HNC Mechanical Engineering/BTEC/City & Guilds or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards.
  • Leadership Skills:

Communication:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
