About the role:
To support the engineering department in the delivery of welding and fabrication duties to the wider business community.
Whilst developing your technical and manual skills to be able to fabricate the UK’s high- and low-pressure gas infrastructure
Experience Required:
- Keep abreast of welding developments and best practices.
- Assist the engineering manager in the mentorship of technicians and trainees.
- Liaise with third party inspection authorities whenever required for the project and issuing any necessary work orders for inspections and testing.
- Check the validity and applicability of documentation
- Produce and review pWPS’s, WPS’S and WPQR’S based around project needs
- Collate, update and file documents electronically relevant to Welding Engineering.
- Verify that all welders / welding operators are certified in accordance with the project specification and international rules.
- Evaluate and assess materials certs for conformity to welding procedures as well as international rules.
- Ensure that all welding guidance conforms with the latest SHEQ regulations.
- Liaise with the Quality Engineers/Supervisors/Inspectors, Project Managers, Production Supervisors and Clients Representatives whenever required for the project.
- Maintain and audit the current documentation and processes used by the team.
- Understand the necessary requirements for mechanical testing within international standards.
- Creation of technical instruction and technical review of procedures relevant to the department.
- Perform other role-related duties as assigned by the department head.
- Experience of heavy fabrication and welding is necessary, such as an inspector, quality control or supervisor.
- International Welding specialist (IWS) – preferred qualification
- Computer Literate – (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Word) is necessary
- Experience within pipeline industry would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of NDT methods and their limitations would be advantageous.
- Ability to read 3.1 material certification would be advantageous
- Working knowledge of BS 4515-1 & BS EN ISO 15614-1 would be advantageous
- Confidence to challenge the status quo.
- Happy to travel around UK when projects require technical support.
- Professional registration will be encouraged.
- Full Clean UK driving license
