Welfare Benefits and Tenancy Officer – £32,346 p.a. – South East London, SE6/ Hybrid

The Role

As a Welfare Benefits and Tenancy Officer at Quo Vadis Trust, you will join our Finance Team to support adults at risk with mental health needs. You will play a vital role in managing Welfare Benefits and tenancies for our clients, ensuring they receive the support they need to maximise their independence.

Key Responsibilities:

Benefits Management:

  • Assist clients in obtaining and maintaining benefits.
  • Collaborate with Housing Officers to ensure clients understand their entitlements and have access to bank accounts.
  • Provide guidance on debts, overpayments, and deductions.
  • Assess potential clients’ benefits in relation to tenancy sustainability.
  • Inform relevant parties of any changes in clients’ circumstances.
  • Resolve queries related to tenancies and benefits.
  • Keep up to date with changes in benefits legislation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry.

Tenancy Duties:

  • Prepare and renew tenancy documentation.
  • Submit licence documentation to local authorities promptly.
  • Prepare termination documentation and advise colleagues on potential issues.
  • Prepare weekly occupancy reports.

Service Charge Duties:

  • Collect service charge payments and manage direct debits/standing orders.
  • Share service charge statements and reports.
  • Arrange meetings to assess financial situations and advise on repayment plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date service charge information using QVT’s systems.

Finance/Accounting Duties:

  • Assist the Finance Officer with payments and reporting.
  • Use accounting software to allocate and monitor client charges.
  • Report on debtors and creditors.
  • Create and distribute invoices to partner agencies and clients.
  • Maintain accurate financial information for each client.

Admin Tasks:

  • Become proficient in all QVT IT systems.
  • Keep client files and records accurate and up to date.
  • Liaise with external agencies, keeping logs of communications.
  • Provide updates and reports as required.

The Person

  • Literate and numerate to GCSE level or above.
  • Relevant qualification in a housing-related discipline (desirable).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Housing Association dealing with tenancies.
  • Knowledge of supported housing and benefits service.
  • Computer literate with experience in accounting systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong administration skills, excellent communication, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
