- West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds
- 37 hours per week, 38 weeks per year - Permanent
- £25,119 per annum - £27,334 per annum (Actual Salary £20,615 per annum - £22,433 per annum)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice on state benefits and assist students in contacting agencies like Social Care Services, Mental Health Services, and Local Authorities.
- Conduct class talks on various issues such as smoking, healthy eating, and substance abuse.
- Offer weekly client sessions where counselling isn't suitable.
- Assist and advise students who are or will become homeless.
- Identify and refer safeguarding issues to the relevant services and train as Alternate DSL.
- Support students in emotional distress and direct them to appropriate agencies.
- Advocate for students with other agencies and tutors, including during disciplinary procedures.
- Organise enrichment activities, including freshers events.
- Maintain accurate records in the Student Welfare recording system.
- Conduct student assessments and liaise with other agencies as needed.
- Monitor Children in Care, Young Adult Carers, or students with mental health issues, ensuring risks are known.
- Process safeguarding information from feeder high schools promptly.
- Support the Student Liaison team with drug searches.
- Regularly update Personal Progress Tutors and support the PPT service.
- Respect student confidentiality at all times.
- Undertake other reasonable duties in line with the role's responsibilities.
