Job Title:       Wellbeing Mentor

Location:      Westbourne School, Sutton in Ashfield

Salary:          Up to £21,000 per annum

Hours:           37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:00pm

Contract:      Permanent, Term Time Only

Job purpose

To provide appropriate guidance and intervention for all students as part of the Pastoral and Well-being Team. To always safeguard students. 

Key task and responsibilities 

To be actively involved in the support and monitoring of students’ behaviour by:

  • Assisting and managing the return of students back to the classroom. 
  • Implementing agreed strategies to manage and improve the behaviour of learners in the school.
  • Supporting learners to identify and remove barriers to learning. 
  • Managing a cohort of learners, holding 1:1 sessions on a weekly basis. 
  • Delivering Zones of Regulation sessions on a 1:1 basis/in small groups. 
  • Agree and write learner action plans. 
  • Monitoring and analysing the behaviour of learners using the online behaviour management system (Sleuth).

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Qualification in English, Maths and ICT or Functional Skills equivalents.
  • High standard of literacy and numeracy skills.

Essential

  • A team player.
  • A driving licence, with business insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and appropriately.
  • Ability to develop positive and productive relationships with school staff parents/carers, and external agencies.
