Our client is one of the largest Midlands fabricating businesses of aluminium and pvc products. They are looking for a strong individual with sound knowledge of fabrication and welding to come into the business as an experienced fabricator who can develop into Factory Supervisor, with full supervisory guidance and training provided. You will drive continuous improvement for the business. To be considered for this position you must have strong window/ aluminium fabrication experience and a drive to become supervisor overseeing a team of 18 fabricators and welders.

Job Description:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Window Fabricator with some supervisory experience; however this is advantageous. Strong knowledge and experience are required in order to be trained up into the Supervisory position. You will manage the day-to-day running of production, adhering to quality standards and motivating and supporting the team to achieve the required targets. The successful candidate will ensure the production plan is met on time and in full, support and liaise with management to ensure clear and concise communication and create and action the departmental plan in line with the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities of the Window Fabricator:
- Ensure that production targets are met within agreed deadlines, making best use of resources and materials, you will also be required to create and action the departmental plan in line with the needs of the business.
- Be responsible for the workflow by creating a work schedule, delegating tasks to team members, and ensuring they understand the tasks.
- Direct the team to ensure all items are manufactured to the required quality standard and are completed on time.
- Monitor employee productivity, coach team members, and provide constructive feedback where needed and if improvement is required, driving continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate and encourage a one team thought process.
- Train and support new employees to ensure they have the required skills and knowledge to fulfil their role.
- Be proactive on H&S, enforce rules of the factory shop floor and highlight issues.
- Assist in ensuring the correct staffing levels, with the right people in the right places.
- Highlight any potential issues with the production plan (no materials etc) and raise any quality issues to management if they cannot be corrected yourself.
- Actively participate in relevant meetings and undertake any relevant training required.
- Lead by example with attendance, timekeeping, and attitude a "we can do it".
- Complete any other reasonable additional duties as requested by management.
- Assist the management team with projects to improve business functions.
- Strong experience as a Window Fabricator or Aluminium Fabricator.
- Willing and desire to step up into a leadership position, with an ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of production and inventory management systems.
- Ability to identify and resolve production-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety policies within a manufacturing environment.
- An ideal candidate will have a track record for improving staff morale, increasing efficiency or for other measurable improvements in their team.
- Willing and ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Good communication, interpersonal skills, organisational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and proficient IT skills (including Microsoft Office packages).
