Wintel Systems Engineer

As a Wintel Systems Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of engineering delivery, taking charge of one or more work packages from planning to execution. Here's what the role entails:

Responsibilities:

• Lead the engineering delivery of work packages, overseeing planning, estimation, execution, and progress reporting for both yourself and team members.
• Contribute to system design and low-level design, leveraging technical expertise and best practices.
• Develop, integrate, and test system solutions, including scripting for automation and integration support.
• Provide progress and status reports to internal stakeholders.
• Configure and administer system security tools such as SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, and Endpoint Detection and Response.
• Troubleshoot system issues and faults, offering diagnostic insights and proposed solutions.
• Implement security control measures, including operating system lockdown controls.
• Develop Systems Engineering artifacts and documentation to support system solution delivery and maintenance.
• Mentor team members in specialized areas.
• Offer specialist technical support to the business unit, supporting projects or broader programs, potentially contributing to bid development and evaluation.
• Collaborate with external third parties such as vendors and resellers to develop robust and cost-effective solutions.

Requirements: Essential:

• IT Systems Engineering or IT solution delivery, ideally in a secure environment.
• Strong technical proficiency with a comprehensive understanding of network and systems infrastructure technologies.
• Awareness of cyber security capabilities is advantageous.
• DV clearance as a sole UK national is mandatory.

Desirable:

Proficiency in Wintel IT systems with a diverse skill set covering mainstream IT infrastructure services and components, including:

• Microsoft Active Directory services.
• Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux server installation and builds.
• Virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware.
• Workstation builds and deployments using Microsoft WDS and MDT
• Good understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of products
• Familiarity with Microsoft Products like Exchange, SQL, SCOM, and SharePoint    

Due to the nature of the client base, this role requires you to hold an active and transferable DV clearance as a sole UK national.
