Witness Statement Taker - Edinburgh - 23 months
Our client has a new opportunity for a Witness Statement Taker for a 23 month period.
This post requires a high level of stake holder management skills. You will be responsible for taking accurate statements from witnesses as well as playing a vital part in the delivery of a high quality witness experience, ensuring that information and evidence is captured and prepared.
- Taking statements from witnesses and preparing an accurate first person account of the witness's testimony
- Working closely with the Witness Manager and the Legal Team to prepare for the taking of statements, including agreeing the line of questioning
- Working with the Documents and Evidence Management Team to ensure that all relevant documentation that may be referred to is available during the statement taking.
- Ensuring a post-interview review with the Witness Manager is held, highlighting key areas and ensuring the draft statement has captured the key points.
- You will work flexibly and be prepared to do other work such as undertaking research or preparing short report through examination of evidence
- Considerable experience in dealing with members of the public in what can be difficult and stressful circumstances.
- Significant experience in taking Witness Statements and accurate note-taking to capture accurate statements.
- Proven ability to work under pressure responding quickly to changing situations in complex environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills.
The post is based in Central Edinburgh, although travel may be required to gather statements from witnesses across Scotland and beyond. You must also either hold a Basic Disclosure Scotland or be willing to apply for one if successful in securing the position.
