We are looking to a recruit a Workforce Development Advisor to provide operational and strategic support to the City of York Adult Social Care workforce and key partnerships. This role is key to ensuring that training and development needs are supported, to enable a skilled and well-informed workforce.
With a primary focus on social and social work, the main function of this role is to work closely with senior managers to identify, develop, source, commission, review and evaluate learning and development opportunities for CYC Adult Social Care employees.
The post holder will report directly to the Principal Social Worker but will work closely with the ASC Senior Management Team, and managers at all levels within the organisation. They will also have a key role in CQC inspection planning, and ensuring training meets inspection requirements.
This is an exciting time to join CYC, and an excellent opportunity to develop and shape the Adult Social Care training offer. We are soon to launch our new practice model and quality assurance framework, and are developing a programme of training to support their application and embedding across the service. This means a key focus on prevention, reduce, delay, maximising independence, safeguarding, strength-based practice and a relational approach.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of key legislation and policy agendas, and the implications of these for Workforce Development. They will be able to contribute to strategy and policy, and work effectively with key partnerships. They will be able to coordinate, develop and evaluate a range of training options, to meet the needs of different audiences. Excellent communication, organisation, and networking skills are essential to this post, as well as a creative approach to learning and development.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
