Workshop Manager Position Overview:
The Workshop Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the fabrication process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety in workshop operations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in welding, construction, and fabrication, with the ability to lead a team and manage projects effectively.
Responsibilities as Workshop Manager:
Workshop Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations of the workshop, managing the fabrication process, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of skilled fabricators and welders, fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment.
Project Management: Coordinate with project managers to understand project requirements, timelines, and resource needs. Ensure the efficient allocation of resources to meet project goals.
Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that fabricated steel components meet industry standards and project specifications.
Safety Compliance: Enforce and promote a strong safety culture within the workshop. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of workshop equipment and coordinate repairs as needed to ensure optimal functionality.
Site Visits: Conduct occasional site visits to locations around the UK to assess project requirements, provide technical support, and coordinate with on-site teams.
Reporting: Generate regular reports on workshop performance, project status, and resource utilization.
Requirements:
Experience: Prior experience in a workshop management role within the steel fabrication and structural steelwork industry.
Technical Expertise: Strong background in welding, construction, and steel fabrication processes.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Project Management: Experience in coordinating and managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
Communication: Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal teams, clients, and on-site personnel.
Safety Focus: A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and enforcing safety protocols.
Flexibility: Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
