The contractor operate an in-house workshop to perform Repairs and Maintenance on the fleet of 50 vehicles, typically Road Sweepers, Plant and Tankers. In addition to the standard vehicle chassis, the trucks are fitted with ancillary equipment in the form of sweeping, vacuuming and jetting gear.
Job purposes
To maintain day to day the safe, legal and efficient operation of the vehicle workshop and multi skilled team of mechanics, signing off work complete together with basic administration to ensure that we are compliant. Quality check, audit work of team. Identify knowledge and experience gaps and recommend training/plan to fix.
Principal Accountabilities
Management of direct reports. Using our Workshop Management software, plan our Maintenance Schedule. Ensure adequate number of vehicles are available for use by the Transport Team. Ensure resources are used efficiently and cost effectively to carry out work. Ensure correct stock levels are maintained to reduce downtime. Ensure that high levels of productivity are achieved leading to effective use of resources. Ensure that faults have been correctly diagnosed and identify rectifying actions. Implement processes and ensure they are followed. Drive standards to ensure the highest levels and best practice when considering Health & Safety.
Person Specification
Ability to multi task and keep an overseeing eye over the entire workshop. Interpersonal skills will be required in conflict resolution. Takes pride in the service condition and standards of the fleet
Technical Qualifications
IRTEC qualified. Up to date with current vehicle and ministry vehicle legislation. HGV licence - C+E. (Preferred) Computer Literate with Electronic Vehicle Diagnostic software and Microsoft Office. Full UK Driving Licence.
