Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose
The primary role of the Supervisor- ROV Systems is to manage the day to day activities carried out in the workshop. Working closely with the planning group and production manager, the Workshop Supervisor will ensure trained and competent resources as well as parts and consumables are available to meet system/s requirements.
Functions
ESSENTIAL
  • Supervise all workshop activities to ensure maximum utilisation and efficiency of workshop personnel through resource planning and monitoring all workshop activities
  • Liaise with workshop operations planner to create short and long-term resource allocation plans based on input from all stakeholders
  • Liaise with workshop operations planner to ensure equipment, parts and consumables are available enabling a “clean to start” methodology
  • Identify changes in work scope, potential impact on schedule and report to workshop operations planner and production manager
  • Identify areas of technical or procurement risk and/or schedule conflict to the workshop operations planner in a timely manner
  • Assist with quoting of rework activities, costing and back charging of all consumables and direct/indirect labour hours
  • Attend Tender and Project kick-off meetings to ensure workshop input criteria is fully understood and met
  • Responsible for the development, training and continuous appraising of staff to facilitate maximum contribution from department members
  • Ensure that department related processes and procedures are up to date and aligned with customer/ supplier requirements
  • Participate in any incident investigations
  • Lead the review and creation of Risk Assessments and JSEA
  • Ensure Risk Assessments and JSEA library is up to date
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements prior to starting and during operations i.e. COSHH, HAVS, PUWER and LOLER
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to workshop personnel on QHSE/ 6S practices such as JSEA, Risk Assessments and Pressure Testing best practice/s
  • Create, maintain and present workshop key performance indicators i.e. utilisation, efficiency, observation close-out rate and duration
  • Ownership and implementation of 5S and QHSE Focus groups

NON-ESSENTIAL

  • Lead QHSE initiatives such as continuous improvement implementation and monitoring
  • In conjunction with Service Excellence, develop and maintain standard operations planning matrix
  • Chairing of workshop meetings such as, toolbox talks, safety stand downs etc.
  • Management of workshop test equipment and lifting accessories
  • Ensure workshop Quality and HSE related observations are closed out in allocated time
  • Responsible for monitoring overtime within the agreed budgets, workload demands and efficient resource planning
  • Other duties as assigned
Safety
Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.
Other
Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.

Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.

Reporting Relationship
  • Reports to Production Manager- Workshop
Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • Educated to HNC/ HND minimum within a mechanical, hydraulics or electrical background
  • Specialist knowledge of subsea equipment, including, but not limited to ROV systems, IWOCS, Workover Systems and Tooling packages
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to develop subordinates
  • Demonstratable experience with 6S and lean principals
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Extensive supervisory experience
  • Extensive experience of working with pressure i.e. pressure testing, (hydro and pneumatic)/ function testing
  • Working at heights experience
  • Overhead crane certification


DESIRED
  • 6S or Lean Champion
  • IOSH- Managing safely
  • City and Guilds- Pressure Testing SCQF Level 6
  • Incident investigation
  • A1 or equivalent Workplace Assessor
  • Forklift Truck certification

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be working indoors or outdoors during the day and occasionally at night. Climatic and environmental conditions at the job site may include indoor and outdoor climate with various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment etc. This may include an offshore environment where vessel movements may have an effect.
The employee will be required to wear PPE at all times
