Our client is an alternative energy technology business located in Sheffield / Rotherham area. They are seeking a Mechanical Assembly and Testing Workshop Technician to join their growing team and contribute to the assembly and testing of innovative technology platforms.
The role:
Mechanical Fitter and Testing Technician
Working Hours: Monday to Friday (flexible hours)
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE

- 25 days holiday + bank holidays = 33 days total

As part of a multi-discipline team, the Mechanical Fitter and Testing Technician will support engineers and scientists in the technology development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up and preparing laboratory facilities, equipment, instruments, and materials for experiments or tests.
- Fabricating and maintaining mechanical and electrical subsystems for the test equipment.
- Performing calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure operability, accuracy and reliability.
- Assisting engineers and scientists in conducting experiments, tests, and research projects.
- Collecting and analyzing data, measurements, and observations using various tools and techniques.
- Recording and documenting experimental data, observations, and results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Following standard operating procedures and protocols to ensure consistency and reproducibility of experiments.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues or problems that may arise during experiments or tests.
- Assisting in the development and optimization of test systems, laboratory procedures and protocols, and other development activities.
- Collaborating with other team members or researchers to analyze and interpret data.
- Keeping accurate records of laboratory inventory.
- Maintaining laboratory safety protocols and ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.
Skills and Requirements:
- Strong work ethic with a drive to complete tasks with very high-quality standards.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Can work effectively in a diverse team of technicians, engineers and scientists.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Able to operate and maintain complex systems and test equipment.
- Welding and electrical wiring skill desired.
- Safety focused.
