Our client

Morgan Hunt are supporting a national homeless prevention charity who are looking to recruit a part time Young Peoples Progression Coach on a part time basis. This role will be based in Chester, working on a flexible rota that includes evenings, weekends, sleep ins and bank holidays.

The service in Chester provides support services to Semi - Independent care leavers aged 16-8. The Service support the young people to develop independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene. Managing budgets and understanding the wider benefits of work is also critical, and the young people access programmes for education, training, and employment.

The role - Young Peoples Progression Coach

  • Undertake both lone working and working within a team responsible for delivering an assessment, support and move on service to care leavers (aged 16-18) in supported accommodation.
  • Support young people so that they can develop the skills and resilience to be confident and self-determining in their lives.
  • Manage a caseload of young people, addressing their physical, emotional, social and behavioural needs.
  • Running individual and group support sessions and other key activities within the supported accommodation to help them progress towards independence.
  • Maintaining regular contact with the young people and recording interactions.
  • Liaising with external organisations around the needs of young people i.e. social workers.
  • Health and safety of the flats, ensuring any repairs are raised and completed.
  • Completing risk assessments and support plans for young people.

The candidate

  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to the company values and ethos of the organisation.
  • Experience in working with care leavers, young people or other vulnerable groups.
  • Experience of Safeguarding in children and adults and operating safeguarding requirements and procedures.
  • Experience of using Risk Assessments and Support Planning tools.
  • Experience of managing a case load, recording and record keeping
  • Experience and confidence of lone working.

Due to the nature of this role, an Enhanced DBS is required for the role.
