Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Future4Me team in Lincolnshire as a Youth & Community Development Worker, working with young people who may need support in making a positive transition to adulthood.  The team have one permanent part time Youth and Community Development Worker posts in East Lindsey.

Please note this is a part-time vacancy and the salary will be pro rota for hours worked. 

About the role:

Youth and Community Development Workers work with young people who may be vulnerable and may require help and support to prevent their difficulties from escalating.  The role assists in the delivery of interventions and programmes using recreational activities and resources to support the youth engagement process. You will work as part of a team to provide young people with trusted adult role models to support positive choices and decision making as part of our Community and Intervention offer.

There is a need to be flexible within your working approach. The role will involve a range of duties including working regular evenings, days, and possible weekends. You’ll provide high quality provision via open access, group work, holiday activities, one to one and outreach opportunities including interventions supporting those at risk of antisocial behaviour and entering the criminal justice service, enhancing young people’s personal and social skills which result in identifiable positive outcomes and lasting change.

This part time role will enable you to work one to one with young people at risk of entering the criminal justice system, supporting them to recognise and meet their needs in positive ways. You will have the opportunity to lead and plan youth clubs, holiday activities and other youth events which aim to engage, develop, challenge and celebrate young people - particularly 14 - 18 year olds.

About You:

Are you able to build relationships quickly and effectively with young people? could you engage and support young people 8-18, to move successfully through education into adulthood and working life through community provision and targeted interventions?

You will be an enthusiastic, relatable and innovative youth worker who has experience engaging and supporting young people aged 8-18, with a proven track record of helping young people move successfully through education into adulthood and working life. Preferably, you will hold a JNC recognised youth work qualification.

You will be a team player who is able to share ideas and be proactively involved in our planning, delivery and evaluation of youth provisions in East Lindsey. These include one-to-one, targeted interventions as well as open access youth clubs and school holiday activities.

You will be adaptable and reflective; taking a strengths-based approach to supporting young people and be responsive to their needs. You will also have a strong awareness of current trends and ideas popular with young people.
