We are seeking a qualified worker with a track record of performing to a high standard in preventing offending and reoffending. The candidate will have at least three years' experience managing within the Criminal Justice Service.
The candidate must have a deep knowledge and understanding of Youth Justice and children's legislation and the ability to build strong working relationships with key partners and stakeholders. Primary objectives are:
- Support with inspection preparation
- Audit the active YJS caseload
- Deputise for the Team Managers and Head of Service where required
- Observe and support the YJS Risk Management and Out of Court Disposal Panels
- Support the YJS with any learning reviews
- Support and implement the YJS participation strategy
. As a member of the management group within the multi-agency Youth Justice Service to carry
out all required work within the framework provided by the Council and partner agencies'
policies, Home Office National Standards, and government guidance.
To ensure the delivery and co-ordination of the various tasks of the Youth Justice Service
arising from the Haringey Youth Justice Plan, all relevant local strategic Plans and legislation.
To provide operational management of the multi agency, multi disciplinary Youth Justice
Service and related projects.
To manage, monitor and continually improve the performance and achievements of the Youth
Justice Service and related projects.
To ensure of opportunity for the Youth Justice Service and related projects.
To ensure equality of access to service and resources to all children and young people living
in Haringey, to prevent offending/re-offending.
Main Responsibilities
1.
To assist in the management, development, evaluation and monitoring of Youth Justice and
the services provided ensuring all work is within the equalities framework and to deputise for
the Head of Service as required.
To be responsible for the management of staff, including recruitment, induction, supervision
and appraisal, and monitoring of absence according to the policies and procedures of the
parent agency.
To manage the resources within the Youth Justice including assisting in the management of
the budgets, and ensure the service works cohesively together and with related .agencies.
To manage the performance of the staff and related projects, providing reports to senior
managers, Council members, the steering group, and government departments.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
qualification.
CQSW, Dip.SW, CSS or Teacher Training qualification or relevant Youth Justice
Holder of a driving licence.
At least five years post-qualification experience of working with young people
within the remit of Youth Justice legislation and Children Act 1989.
Experience of managing a multi-agency team.
Experience of operating within an equal opportunities framework.
Experience of evaluating work projects.
Ability to present information, complete and produce written reports to a high
standard.
