We are seeking an experienced Youth Mentor to join our innovative Raising Aspirations project, working directly with young people from age 8 upwards, in our communities and support our youth clubs, primarily in the Scunthorpe area.
The aim is to work with young people on our estates to inspire, encourage and empower them to grow to their full potential as involved members of our communities, and wider.
Using local youth clubs and creating new activities, the role will focus on developing life and career planning including citizenship, integrity, and responsibility.
The roles offer 16 hrs including 2 evenings per week with a salary of £11,782 and great company benefits.
The successful candidate will need to have:
- Skills and ability to engage, mentor and support young people
- Excellent communication skills
- A keen interest and understanding of the issues and factors faced by young members of the community and in particular those aged 8 upwards
- Ability to design and deliver a range of activities for young people aged 8 to 18
- Experience in working in a supporting environment with the ability to manage difficult and sometimes upsetting situations.
- The ability to transport themselves around areas where Ongo has properties
- The postholder must undertake an enhanced DBS check due to the nature of the post
Plus, ideally one of the following qualifications:
- Youth work qualification
- Mentoring or coaching qualification
- IAG qualification
