Rochdale Connections Trust
''Come in for a chat and a brew''
Our Mentoring programme is about working with young people aged between 11-25 by listening and offering guidance and support. We recruit and train volunteer mentors from the local community to support young people who are experiencing issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, domestic abuse, youth offending and bullying, or are leaving the care system. They focus on supporting the young person to develop coping strategies and to help overcome the setbacks.
What's it like being a Mentor?
You will provide a couple of hours per week to your assigned young person. As a Mentor you will have the opportunity to help improve a young person’s well being, confidence and to develop their skills by working with them on a 1:1 basis. You will become a person they value and look up to, you will become their role model.
What's in it for you?
► Experience of working with children & young people.
► Trauma Informed Practice Training.
► Safeguarding Training.
► CPD Learning & Development.
► Ongoing professional counselling support.
► Benefit of signposting to external training providers.
Mentor Training
We provide a 2 day full training course for our mentors.
The Mentor training programme runs several times a year and is a requirement for our volunteers to work 1:1 with a young person accessing our service.
As additional benefits, we offer regular supervision sessions, group support and frequent volunteer events as a "thank you!"
Volunteering can be a great way to get involved in your local community, learn new skills and build confidence. We have had amazing feedback from volunteers about the training, their work with young people and the added support they receive.
We are looking to recruit individuals who are passionate within this field.
