We are recruiting a Youth Minister who…
will work with existing teams to nurture young people in their faith journey,
will network and build relationships with young people,
will develop links and outreach in the neighbourhood and schools,
is a good communicator and organiser,
is able to ensure no young person feels marginalised or isolated,
is non-judgemental, mature, sensitive, and creative.
Main responsibilities:
- To work with the Minister, church stewards, congregation, and other helpers to review and, where appropriate, build on existing initiatives. Additionally, to explore further opportunities to reach out to children, young people and their families within the church and neighbourhood.
- To take a leading role in existing, and develop new, ministry to youth and children within the life of our church.
- To facilitate teamwork to maintain and develop links between the churches and local schools e.g. R E Inspired (https://www.reinspired.org.uk/).
- To enable liaison with community groups, congregation, other local churches etc. to scope out potential possibilities for outreach, including collaborative working e.g. develop community spaces within the emerging Church Community Hub at 84 Queen’s Road.
- Included within this post is an expectation to spend the equivalent of one day a week working in the wider Circuit including the provision of appropriate support to the Brigades at Emmanuel Methodist Church, Reading.
- To attend Circuit and Church Meetings and relevant training events as agreed with the Minister.
- To fulfil other duties consistent with the role as agreed with the Minister and as time permits.
