Youth Ministry Pioneer
The Diocese of Manchester has established the Children Changing Places Project, which is currently working with 33 schools and 33 churches in developing discipleship pathways for children and young people in Bolton. As part of an exciting new phase of the project, we are looking to appoint a Youth Ministry Pioneer, to support the growing opportunities for Christian discipleship, with young people, in secondary schools and parishes in Bolton deanery.
The Youth Ministry Pioneer will work with local secondary schools, chaplaincy teams and parishes to develop Christian discipleship pathways for young people. They will strengthen existing youth activities, as well as taking a creative and proactive approach to launching new youth initiatives. This role will be very varied, with the opportunity to make a real impact on Christian youth work, and Christian activities in schools, across Bolton.
The Youth Ministry Pioneer will have many opportunities for training and development, as well as the creative freedom to launch new initiatives for young people. They will work within a highly motivated and supportive team, who are committed to prayer and to welcoming young people into the life of the church. They will also benefit from working alongside school chaplaincy teams (Bishop Fraser Multi Academy Trust) and parish youth workers.
The post holder should have experience of youth work and working or volunteering in a church and/or school context. To succeed, they need to be enthusiastic, creative, relational, self-motivated and able to lead in a range of different contexts. They will be excellent communicators, with good interpersonal skills. They will be able to build and maintain effective working partnerships and have a working understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures. They will have experience of the creation and delivery of projects aimed at young people.
There is an Occupational Requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
The post will be offered to the successful candidate subject to an enhanced DBS check with barred list check (child workforce), satisfactory references and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
