Youth Participation and Democracy Lead (ID2679)

Working Hours: 35 Hours per week

Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary until 30 November 2024

Additional Payments: Casual Car User Allowance

This role is subject to:

* Qualification - Must hold a recognised Level 3 youth work qualification or be willing to work towards one within 12 months.

* Medical Clearance - Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA)

* Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

* Driving Licence – The successful candidate should hold a full clean driving licence as you will be required to drive a vehicle adhering to council regulations.

* DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you, or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders, and it is available upon request.

This unique post is fundamental to the youth offer within the city and plays a key role in the overall delivery of the Youth, Play and Participation service offer.

The role provides effectives leadership and management of projects, strategies and/or teams, ensuring the provision of appropriate and coordinated services to maximise positive outcomes for children and young people.

About the Candidate

We have an exciting opportunity to join Manchester City Council's Youth, Play and Participation team!

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of managing people and teams and have significant experience of developing and managing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as elected members, schools and VCSE organisations. They will also have excellent communication and organisational skills.
