Job description

Prospectus is delighted to be working with our client, a social enterprise that works with girls and young women affected by criminal exploitation, and the professionals that support them. Based in London, the organisation aims to bring about a culture shift in the way services are delivered to girls and young women, so they can access support that works for them when they need it, and ultimately live free from harm and abuse. They are now looking for a Practitioner to join their new Participation team, with a particular focus on Education, Training and Employment.

You will be a key member of the team working directly with young women and girls to bring about systems change for those affected by criminal exploitation and violence, ensuring that their voices are at the heart of decision-making. With responsibility for developing key external partnerships, in support of providing education, training and employment (ETE) opportunities to young women who are engaging with the Participation team, you will provide and support the delivery of 1:1 and pastoral support, group work sessions and rights-based, person centred advocacy alongside statutory services.

As Practitioner you will work alongside the Participation team to deliver our client’s accredited Elevate programme, and help to establish it as a sustainable and thriving function of the organisation, supporting the young women enrolled to successfully complete the programme. You will also support the delivery of the Young Women’s Advisory Group (YWAG).

To be successful, you will have knowledge of both participation theory and a commitment to participatory practice, and hearing and amplifying young women’s voices both internally and externally. Experience of developing employment, Education and creative placements for young people is crucial, as is experience of building and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders in those sectors. Ideal candidates will have experience of delivering successful participation projects and group work with young people who rarely have their voices heard, and experience of successfully advocating of their behalf.

Experience in responding to risk, safeguarding and child protection issues, ideally in the unique context of extra-familial harm and/or criminal exploitation and violence is important. A commitment to equality and an understanding or the intersectional nature of social identity is essential, as is a willingness to take on our client’s unique Model of Practice, to support the engagement of young women.

This is a very exciting role with a huge amount of scope and opportunity for the right person. Please apply with your CV and supporting statement. The supporting statement can be completed in 1 of 4 different ways:

  • Word document (no more than 2 sides of A4)
  • Powerpoint slides (no more than 5)
  • Audio recording (no more than 5 mins)
  • Video recording (no more than 5 mins)

Please note CVs will be reviewed, and initial interviews will be conducted on an on-going basis and therefore we encourage early application.

As a specialist Recruitment Practice Prospectus is committed to building inclusive and diverse organisations, and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Prospectus invests in your journey as a candidate and are committed to supporting you in your application.

This post is restricted to women only as a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9 paragraph 1, Equality Act 2010. For the avoidance of doubt, all women including trans women are welcome to apply for and hold such roles, as are non-binary people if the applicant believes their lived experience aligns with that of women and girls.
