Support Worker
Could you support Carly who has been the victim of both emotional and physical abuse since an early age? Or Ahmed who has fled his country because of war and persecution resulting in burns to his torso? If so then this is the job for you!
Above n Beyond provide support and accommodation for young people leaving care aged 16 to 18 years.
The outreach support workers role is build on and develop the young peoples skills so that eventually they will be able to live independently in the community and maintain a tenancy. These include budgeting, household cleaning, understanding British systems such as housing, council tax, understanding utilities, contracts and employment law.
You will have responsibilities for reporting any maintenance issues in the young persons accommodation and for supporting the young person to keep the accommodation clean. You will also be required to accompany young people on visits and appointments and support them in understanding processes and procedures.
The post of outreach support worker requires that you are flexible, able to plan your own diary and be able to engage effectively with young people. You will need to have basic computer skills and be able to write informative, brief reports. As a support worker you will be part of a team and will be required to utilise training opportunities to gain knowledge or update your skills..
Ideally our Support Worker will have:
- A Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social care children and young people or equivalent, or be prepared to undertake the qualification if necessary.
- Basic computer skills
- Be able to write informative, brief reports

This is an exciting opportunity which allows support workers to be creative in their approach and allows them to "think outside of the box". As you will attend meetings with other professionals and advocate on behalf of the young people, effective communication skills at all levels will be required.
