Job description

Youth Worker
The Diocese of Manchester has established the Children Changing Places Project, which is currently working with 33 schools and 33 churches in developing discipleship pathways for children and young people in Bolton. One key aspect of this project is the ‘Shades Project’, which focuses on ‘racial justice and faith’, supporting schools and churches in developing a culture for all children and young people, regardless of racial background, to thrive and flourish.
In response to the exciting growth of the ‘Shades Project’, as well as many creative initiatives led by the Children Changing Places team, we are looking to appoint a Youth Worker (Digital), to support the growing opportunities for Christian discipleship, and to embed the Shades ethos, in secondary schools and parishes in Bolton deanery.
The Youth Worker (Digital) will support the work of the Shades team, in secondary schools, through leading Collective Worship, creative workshops and digital projects. They will use their digital skills to create initiatives aimed at engaging young people in fresh forms of Christian discipleship, in schools and parishes. The Youth Worker (Digital) will use their digital skills to support the wider Children Changing Places team with creative projects, the creation of short films and social media campaigns. They will have the opportunity to work alongside the diocesan communications team in creating digital content, which will be shared across the diocese of Manchester.
The Youth Worker (Digital) will have many opportunities for training and development, as well as the creative freedom to develop new resources and initiatives for children and young people. They will work within a highly motivated, creative and supportive team, who are committed to prayer and to welcoming children and young people into the life of the church.
The post holder should have excellent digital skills, including experience of photography, videography and digital content creation and a proven track record of working to tight deadlines on digital campaigns. They will keep up to date on digital/social media marketing trends. They will have experience of working with children, young people and families, in a range of diverse communities. They will be creative and able to lead and support activities in schools and parishes. They will be excellent communicators, with good interpersonal skills, sensitivity and an ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. They will be able to build and maintain effective working partnerships and have a working understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures. To succeed in the role they need to be enthusiastic, relational, self-motivated and able to lead in a range of different contexts.
There is an Occupational Requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
The post will be offered to the successful candidate subject to an enhanced DBS check with barred list check (child workforce), satisfactory references and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

Salary: £22,262.23 - £25,695.27 (Actual) (£26,000 - £30,000 per annum (FTE)
