ROLE: 1-TO-1 TUTOR (QUALIFIED TEACHER)

SUBJECT: CORE SUBJECTS (ENGLISH, MATHS, SCIENCE) AT KS1, KS2, KS3, GCSE/FUNCTIONAL SKILLS LEVEL

LOCATION: KENT & MEDWAY (FACE-TO-FACE TUITION)

RATE: £31 - £45* PER HOUR

*based on the material taught, rather than the age of the learner

Who are we?

We are a social enterprise striving to improve educational outcomes for vulnerable young people, including Children Looked After, those adopted, and those with Special Educational Needs. We believe in empowering children through tailored 1-to-1 educational support, and you can help us achieve this.

We receive our referrals from local authorities and schools rather than privately. We are also a member of the Fair Education Alliance and an Approved Tuition Partner of the National Tutoring Programme.

We are seeking QUALIFIED TEACHERs who share our values and who are motivated by a strong desire to make an impact in the lives of those whose current needs are not being met by the education system. Everyone at Equal Education is fully committed to this mission.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

(please note, due to our safer recruitment policies we will only consider applicants who have the following)

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification

  • Available during school hours and/or after school

  • Available for face-to-face tuition (not online)

  • Experience with mentoring

  • Valid Enhanced DBS check for working with children

  • Fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Excellent in your communication, timekeeping, reliability, and reporting

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of positive behaviour strategies and experience in supporting children to self-regulate emotions

  • Understanding of working with vulnerable young people with a range of needs and communication styles

  • Ability to tailor provision based on information provided in documentation e.g Education Health and Care Plan

  • Experience with mentoring

Safeguarding

All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures as outlined in Part 3 of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022, this includes a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced with barred list information check.

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (as amended 2013). Therefore, applicants will be asked to disclose any criminal history if they are shortlisted for an interview.

We require all our tutors to be signed up to the DBS Update Service.

Salary:£31.00-£45.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Weekend availability

COVID-19 considerations:
Risk assessments for in-person tuition available upon request once successfully recruited.

Education:

  • Bachelor's (preferred)

Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year (preferred)

  • Tutoring: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Enhanced DBS certificate (Child Workforce) (preferred)

Work Location: In person
