Prospero Teaching are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work in a Secondary SEMH provision in Hulme. The school provides a vibrant and supportive environment for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. These young people will have an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to help them to engage with the curriculum.
Your role will be to provide mentorship and some academic support to the incoming Year 7 students. You will be working 1:1 with these students and helping to get to the heart of the issue with the young person and come up with an action plan/targets to achieve to support them back in the classroom. Ideally you will be drawing on experience you already have, from a background or studies in the following areas; health & social care, psychology, youth work, sports coaching.
If you have done placements as part of your course in a formal setting, or have supported students, or have any other experience of mentoring children and young adults paid or unpaid, wed love to hear from you.
Hours- Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.45pm

You must be prepared to support children with SEN, and therefore provide an environment where they can reach their potential in all areas. Also, you should be able to build rapports with the children and support their social and behavioural needs.
Depending on performance the school would look at either extending the contract or offering a permanent position.
