Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with a specific student who requires additional support to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. This full-time role will commence in September and offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on a child's educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to a student with special educational needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis.
- Assist the student with their learning activities, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
- Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support strategies as directed by the SENCo and class teacher.
- Monitor and record the student's progress, reporting regularly to the SENCo and class teacher.
- Support the student's social and emotional development, fostering independence and confidence.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and other staff to ensure a cohesive approach to the student's education.
- Attend relevant training and professional development sessions.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, preferably in a primary school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A patient, empathetic, and caring approach to working with children.
- Understanding of child development and learning strategies for students with SEN.
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
