Student and Academic Support Service - Edinburgh College of Art
Open ended, full time (35 hours per week)
The Opportunity:
Senior Programme Administrators are responsible for the administration of ECA’s programmes providing a high quality service to undergraduate and postgraduate students and academic colleagues (Programme Directors, Course Organisers, Exam Board Convenors etc.)
Support focusses on learning, teaching and assessment activities within the context of internal regulations, recognised practice-based requirements and if applicable professional validation requirements. You are a key person in a student’s experience of the University and will be professional and approachable working as part of a wider team using your expert knowledge to support academic teaching staff with the delivery of the exciting range of programmes and courses that ECA offer.
With supervisory responsibilities for day to day operations in your subject area, you support the delivery of consistently high quality service outputand play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming environment (online and in person) for both staff and students. Programme and course allocations may change in line with changing organisational needs and as required you may be asked to provide cover to another Senior Programme and Course Administrator elsewhere in ECA. SASS is currently operating a hybrid service with on campus and digital support for staff and students
Your Skills and Attributes for Success:
Educated to at least N/SVQ 3 or equivalent level, plus relevant administrative work experience.
Good organisational skills: ability to exercise judgement to work without direct supervision and prioritise own work within the annual academic cycle that has periods of very high demand.
Good administrative skills: ability to master quickly new systems and processes and to sustain a high performance whilst under pressure.
Good IT literacy and experience: able to find, use, collate and share information via databases or other systems such as virtual learning environments (BlackBoard Learn), intranet etc.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to form and sustain excellent working relationships.
Ability to work as a team member and motivate colleagues.
Problem solver - ability to take initiative to enhance service/minimise impact of problems and introduce good long term solutions.
Meticulous attention to accuracy and detail.
