As the Customer Solutions Engineering Manager you will play a vital role in managing the function that provides technical authority for customers’ solutions design from bid through to end of life, and customer technical support.


This pivotal role will support our customers around the world, you will deliver Customer Solutions globally as well as influence positive change within the business. Your role will involve but will not be limited to:


  • Managing a team of Applications Engineers (between 6-8) who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary bid team to also include; Programme Managers, Bid and Proposal coordinators and logistics engineers
  • Managing our Technical Support Engineers who provide technical advice and post-sales support to customers
  • Allocating departmental technical resource to Bid and Programme Management tasks as required. Managing priorities and raising to senior management conflicts that cannot be resolved
  • Engaging indirectly in complex bids and programmes to support the Applications Engineers and Technical Support Engineers
  • Challenging customer solution designs and cost estimates to ensure they are aligned with the bidding strategy
  • Carrying out project reviews to monitor and report financial and schedule progress against agreed project plans and milestones
  • Working with the Bid and Programme Management departments to determine inter-departmental processes, and monitor these processes to ensure smooth operation in satisfying Company targets. Obtain regular feedback from these groups and take appropriate action to address any identified shortfalls
  • Ensuring there is a robust and appropriate review and approval process within the department, regularly monitor it and participate in adequate reviews


What we are looking for:


As the successful candidate you will have a broad knowledge of technical bidding and programme delivery as well as demonstrable experience in a managerial position or of leading teams of technical specialists. You will have commercial acumen, strong leadership qualities as well as the ability to initiate and lead change to improve overall Company performance.

We are particularly interested in receiving your application if you have experience in any of the following areas:


  • A degree or equivalent in relevant technical discipline
  • A solid, commercial understanding of business drivers
  • Strong influencing and communication ability of both internal and external stakeholders
  • A strong team builder, leader and major contributor to the strength of the Company Management Team
  • Ability to develop, implement and monitor strategic and business objectives and review the general running of the business within own area of expertise, challenging as appropriate and providing value-adding analysis
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and the ability to remain focussed under pressure
  • Highly self-motivated, positive and flexible
