We are seeking students looking for employment in the summer!
We have six Summer Internships available:
Legal Internship (MUST be a second year A Level student studying Law)
This is a unique opportunity for a driven and talented individual to join North East Lincolnshire Council’s Legal & Coroners Team where the work is varied and interesting. You would be supporting the teams' lawyers who deal with commercial contracts, procurement matters, property transactional documents and regeneration/grant funding projects along with school admission appeals, enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters. You will also be supporting the Coroners Team working alongside the Coroners Officers assisting with the preparation of Inquests, arranging postmortem examinations, processing new deaths, and dealing with families.
Culture and Tourism Internship (Create NEL)
A blended internship with NELC and ‘Our Big Picture’ supporting the team in the following ways:
Our Big Picture is looking for an Intern to be part of a Free Thinking programme of work through the summer of 2024. The young people will gain valuable cultural experience through:
- Being part of OBP's new Young Persons advisory board - They will help shape OBP future arts programme for young people
- They will support the research and development of a new digital art network connecting young people in coastal community
- They will support the gallery and exhibition manager in installing and taking down exhibitions
- They will support the delivery of community art workshops
Adult Careers Internship
A fantastic opportunity to work with a team who manages funded projects to deliver information, advice and guidance through targeted careers and employability delivery to support those aged 19+. The role will include:
- designing forms (using MS Forms)
- creating spreadsheets
- calling/texting/emailing existing and new customers
- Supporting advisers at events
- inputting data into cloud based database
Business Support Internship x 2
NELC recruit Business Support apprenticeships annually as a pathway into this area. An internship provides a valuable opportunity to see if this is the area for you, working with professionals, exploring the vast area of Business Support in a large organisation. These Internships will be involved in:
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and organising documents
- Conduct research and gather information for projects and reports
- Assist in creating and maintaining databases or spreadsheets
- Collaborate with team members on special projects and initiatives
- Learn and adapt to various software and tools used in the business
- Gain exposure to different aspects of the business through shadowing and observation
- Take on additional responsibilities and projects as skills and experience develops
Environment
North East Lincolnshire Council’s Environment Department is currently looking to take on an enthusiastic and committed Intern over the summer. The work carried out as part of this internship will help provide us with further understanding of changes to national policy and how this will impact our borough. The work will also provide a better understanding of how we can improve environmental practice in our area. This information will help inform us to make our borough a more nature rich place.
The successful applicants will be expected to perform the following tasks:
- Possible field work and site visits, this will involve travelling to sites around North East Lincolnshire.
- Desktop collation of field work data.
- Attendance to meetings relating to environmental/ecological projects.
- Desktop study and research work – such as research into changes to national environmental law and policy.
- Analysing and creating maps.
The role will also involve working as part of a professional team and at teams involve working on group projects, it will therefore be a great opportunity for you to enhance your group working skills. The role will also provide a great insight to Ecological and Environmental work and would be valuable experience for anyone looking to study or have a career in Geography, Biology, Ecology or Environmental Science.
