Academic Literacies Developer - UOD1233

The Academic Skills Centre (ASC) delivers a range of tailored resources and initiatives to support the academic development of students and staff. We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as an Academic Literacies Developer. The postholder will work across the ASC team and collaborate with colleagues in academic Schools, Professional Services, and other stakeholders, to support excellence in skills development for students and staff in relation to academic practice. Your priorities will include: Supporting the learning development of undergraduate and postgraduate students though a range of teaching activities, including one-to-one tutorials, small group workshops, and large lectures, both on- campus and online. Contributing to and where appropriate leading on the development and delivery of activities to support effective transition into and through university study; examples include ASC’s articulation module for college students and Access Summer School modules. Contributing to ASC’s staff-facing continuing professional development and scholarship of learning and teaching activities, which currently include the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education (PGCAPHE), the Professional Learning Framework (PLF), and numerous other initiatives. Working proactively in developing and contributing to initiatives within ASC which support the implementation of the University’s Education & Student Experience strategy and/or which address key University priorities; current examples include a! cademic integrity, widening access, and internationalisation. Working collaboratively with colleagues in ASC to contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of our suite of online resources. Who we’re looking for: Degree with relevant professional qualifications and proven sectoral experience. Recent experience in an academic skills tutoring role, in a higher educational institution, with evidence of teaching excellence. Evidence of developing pedagogically sound and engaging materials to support academic skills development in an HE setting. Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Track record of meeting and exceeding objectives and targets, including managing heavy and competing workload demands at certain points in the year.
