Academic Registry is a key, central professional service and wishes to appoint an Academic Quality and Standards Officer. Our operational services and academic policy-work contribute significantly to university life and to the development of learning and teaching.

About the role

You will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of core Academic Quality assurance and Standards activities and services including:

  • Supporting academic, administrative, and professional service colleagues around the university by providing expert guidance on both internal and external requirements for quality assurance and academic standards.
  • Contributing to strategic and operational projects and cyclical processes in education.
  • Providing a high level of secretariat support for university committees and working groups.
  • Producing written reports that help colleagues with internal decision-making and to meet external requirements.
  • Producing clear staff- and student-facing information about policy and processes.

Initially in the role, you will likely focus on:

  • doctoral provision
  • collaborative provision
  • placements/exchange/study abroad
  • online provision and distance-learning
  • accreditation

There will be significant opportunity for engagement with the wider University and higher education sector, and for personal professional development in the area of Academic Quality assurance and Standards.

About you

You will

  • be familiar with regulatory requirements and key considerations within UK higher education and motivated to further develop your sector expertise. You will actively work to build excellent relationships with team members and stakeholders within Academic Registry and across the University.
  • have a collaborative and consultative approach, and a strong interest in continuous improvement. You will be confident in making evidence-based recommendations and decisions about change and be committed to seeing these changes through to implementation and monitoring.
  • be passionate about providing an excellent level of support to a range of colleagues and will use your experience and expertise in oral and written communication to provide advice, guidance, and training in an accessible way to staff and students.

Further information

The team are currently following a hybrid working pattern that requires a minimum of one day a week on campus (currently Wednesdays), with flexible on-campus availability as needed depending on activities each week.
