Are you passionate about people? Are you committed to supporting people to live independently in their own homes? The Accessible Homes Team is part of the Growth and Regeneration directorate. It provides a cross tenure assessment and adaptations service and works to identify more suitable housing accommodation for disabled people and people with additional health needs.

As a member of the Accessible Homes Team, you will work alongside colleagues to identify appropriate solutions to restore or enable independent living, privacy, confidence and dignity for children and their families.

The Team Manager role is high profile, acting as an ambassador for the Council’s approach to the delivery of adaptations and sourcing appropriate housing for those with a medical and/ or functional needs. You will lead on developing and maintaining multiple partnerships with key stakeholders including other Council departments, third sector partners, private providers, and other public bodies.
The Accessible Homes Team have recently been through a full-service review to which recommendations were given to help streamline the service. The Team Manager will be pivotal in the delivery and implementation of these recommendations, taking a lead and ensuring full team involvement to improve service delivery and the client’s journey through the service.
You will manage a team of housing health officers, medical advisory officers and business support officers, working with the seniors in these areas to ensure the team delivers a high-quality service and adheres to all relevant legislation and protocols. You will need the confidence and skills to take difficult decisions and challenge partners and clients on occasions, to manage expectations and retain focus on the team’s agreed objectives. You will need to be a dynamic, self-directed, and organised leader who can support a well-established team to fulfil its duties and drive forward the new service vision.

You will also need strengths in understanding the different elements of the Accessible Homes Team.
