Job title:Account Clerk

Location: Kettering

Salary: £5,000 per annum

Job type: Part time - Permanent

About the role:

Purpose of the Job Primarily responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of records to keep the company books up to date. Responsible for tracking incoming and outgoing money of the accounts. Liaison with the Treasurer to compile Management Reports, Annual Statements, and budget sheets for new funders.

Main Responsibilities Service:

  • Preparing and entering journals on to the relevant Accounting Software
  • Handling sales invoices, receipts, income and payments
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly Management Reports
  • Assisting with the preparation on annual statements
  • Reconciling bank statements and the general ledger
  • Performing administrative duties, including filing, photocopying
  • Create invoices and send to the appropriate organisation
  • Completing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Collecting monthly direct debits and making payments
  • Processing bank transfer requests
  • Keeping financial records organised and easy to access

Other:

  • To work and liaise with other colleagues to share information and to support best practice
  • Work collaboratively with other colleagues in the team and wider organisation to support the services
  • To adhere to the charity's policy and procedures; adhering to good practice Safeguarding procedures with a positive risk-taking approach to ensure the wellbeing of vulnerable people
  • To attend meetings and training as necessary
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by your Manager. Annual objectives will be set for this role which will be used to monitor and evaluate performance within the appraisal system

  • Person Specification Education & Qualifications Essential
  • GSCE level or equivalent in English & Maths
  • Relevant computer experience / IT qualification / Level 2 IT qualification or equivalent experience (ECDL)
  • Level 2 qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping. Experience Essential
  • Relevant experience in a data entry, business related or clerical position
  • Minimum of two years' experience in bookkeeping or a similar finance role

Knowledge and Understanding (Essential):

  • Proficient use of Accounting Software
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience of administration and recording procedures
  • Knowledge and abilities in using Microsoft Office packages

Aptitudes and skills (Essential):

  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong maths skills
  • Excellent organisation and administrative skills. Personal Attributes Essential
