About the Team:

We are looking to appoint accountants in various roles within the finance team to provide financial support, advice and challenge to the organisation.  This will take place through areas such as regular budget monitoring, supporting change projects, providing financial advice for procurement exercises and in supporting the organisation through the medium-term financial planning process. We expect finance professionals to add value through their work and you will be encouraged to continue the journey finance are on to minimise time on business monitoring and maximise time on supporting change.

About the Role:

You will be accustomed to ensuring the organisation you work in has sound financial controls and processes and we expect successful candidates to:

  • Build productive relationships with those you work with and be a key contact for the areas they support
  • Solve problems and take ownership so that residents and colleagues get the outcomes they need
  • Strive to make efficiencies in processes to enable them to maximise their time working towards supporting change.
  • Carry out relevant duties to enable the successful and timely closure of accounts.
  • Be a key player in financial planning for the area they support.
  • Identify financial risks and problems and work to devise mitigations.
  • Support the monthly and quarterly budgetary control process.
  • Inform their service area about their relative performance using financial and activity indicators.
  • Have a working knowledge of local government taxation and capitalisation.
  • Have a working knowledge of financial accounting systems and controls.
