Job description

Job Title:Accounts Assistant

Location: Sunderland

Contract Details: Permanent, Full Time (Monday - Friday, 9-5pm)

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

About Our Client:

Our client is a family-run business with seven entities, currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their team of four. As an integral part of their organisation, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of their day-to-day financial operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly and monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy in timesheets, preparing payroll spreadsheets, processing payroll in the software, and conducting payroll reconciliation
  • Perform bank reconciliation on a weekly and monthly basis for seven bank accounts
  • Support the preparation of management accounts
  • Handle accrual and prepayment activities on a monthly basis
  • Complete month-end activities, including preparing and posting journals
  • Conduct internal bank transfers between companies
  • Control and process supplier payments on a weekly basis and as per request
  • Process customer refunds on a weekly basis and as per request
  • Provide relevant information to senior management upon request
  • Perform job costings
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • Perform finance and administrative tasks within the office
  • Maintain an accurate customer database
  • Manage phone and email inquiries with professionalism and efficiency

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Previous experience in the accounts sector, matching the requirements outlined above
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong commitment to providing high-quality work
  • Proficiency in Sage 50 accounts, Sage Payroll, and Microsoft Office
