The Accounts Assistant position involves managing both client and office accounts within a legal setting. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payment of invoices.
Key Responsibilities of an Accounts Assistant
- To provide and maintain accurate client and office account records as a legal cashier.
- Process daily banking, office and client transfers, cheque processing, petty cash, and bank reconciliations.
- Inputting of transactions and account movements on system and updating ledgers using accounting management software, Leap & Xero.
- Ensuring payment of all firm invoices
- Deal wherever possible with fee earner enquiries and communications.
- Identifying and implementing training needs and requirements
- Building and maintaining good working relationships with Partners, Fee earners, PA’s, and reception
- Any other activities which assist financial operations within the firm
Key Competencies of an Accounts Assistant
- Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules- This can be learnt on the Job with Training
- Trustworthy and reliable
- Ability to priorities own workload and work under pressure without supervision in a busy and deadline driven environment.

- Ability to use new IT systems and learn new IT skills as required.
