We have a fantastic opportunity for an Activities Coordinator to join our team.

As our Activities Coordinator you will join our friendly team based in Taunton, Somerset on a permanent basis, working 40 hours per week on a rota. There will be a requirement to work at the weekend at least monthly and public holidays as required.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £27,329 per annum as well as other generous benefits which include:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As our Activities Coordinator, you will propose and implement an activities programme, ensuring resources, equipment and training and best meeting the needs of clients individually and collectively. You’ll lead and encourage clients to join in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice and dignity. This will enable them to lead an as full and active life as possible, creating a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, inside and outside of the home, for clients to enjoy.

Responsibilities as our Activities Coordinator will include:

  • Working with each new client to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs to put together an individual care plan pathway for activities. This will be kept up to date and reviewed regularly.
  • Formulating and maintaining a stimulating programme of activities for groups of clients and for individuals, taking into consideration special individual requirements
  • Engaging clients’ daily lives within the community by intiating contact with local community groups
  • Liaising and consulting with staff, external agencies and relatives in relation to activities
  • Ensuring the activity and social programme are accessible to all and it incorporates evenings and weekends
  • Familiarising and connecting with all key community groups
  • Regularly assessing the effectiveness of social events and the activities programme
  • Effectively risk assess internal and external activities
  • Assisting and supporting clients at mealtimes
  • Assisting clients with their personal needs in emergency situations
  • Ensuring the programme of activities is within the allocated budget

The House of St Martin in Taunton is a registered care home, refurbished in 2017, for men with multiple needs, including substance misuse, mental health needs or a learning disability. It is located three miles from Taunton and set in six acres of beautiful countryside. The home is registered to support 31 men, offering full-board and an opportunity to thrive. We also offer community housing services in the local area.
