Job description

To provide interventions with an occupation-focused and personal centred approach. In order to improve young people's ability to do the things they need and want to do.
  • To facilitate a therapeutic programme of social, creative and skills based activities to both individuals and groups which promotes social inclusion and improved engagement across the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.
  • To be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating group and individual exercise and/or gym facilities under the guidance of the Lead Occupational Therapist- To work closely with the Occupational Therapist and wider Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) to support delivery of a 'wrap-around' therapeutic programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Activity Coordinator's to work in an inpatient CAMHS unit . The role will involve taking a lead in developing and facilitating the recreation programme for the young people after school, in the evenings and on weekends.
Activity Coordinators facilitate a programme of social, physical, creative and skills based activities to both individuals and groups which promotes social inclusion for service users. The post holder will work closely with the Occupational Therapists and the ward and multi-disciplinary team contributing information towards standardised assessments and care plans
We are looking for a person who can use our resources (art and craft materials, food, gardening , music, cooking and exercise) to engage children and support them to their recovery.
The overall aim of the role is to provide interventions, using personal recovery principles, in order to improve the children’s quality of life and to allow them to have access to positive experiences which will support their recovery journey. The post holder will receive regular supervision by an Occupational Therapist and opportunities for training through CNWL Learning and Development and the Recovery and Wellbeing College.

The unit is a dedicated Tier 4 inpatient facility for young people aged 13-18 with severe and complex mental health difficulties, based in the centre of Chelsea. We offer inpatient care for up to twelve young people.
We are a 24/7, 365 service that comprises of a large MDT, spanning medical, nursing and therapies professions.

To provide culturally and age appropriate activities for young people, aged 13 – 18 years.
To work as a team member to deliver clinical interventions under supervision and direction, using activities as a treatment medium to support young people to re-establish/develop and maintain daily living skills.
To support young people to engage in social and recreational activities, with an emphasis on providing opportunities for therapeutic engagement.
To plan, implement and review a range of activities using individual and group work approaches, under the supervision and direction of a qualified occupational therapist.
To support young people to engage in care plans which have been developed in partnership with the individual and that reflect ‘recovery goals’.
To support and assist young people with managing their self-care needs as and if identified as part of a care plan.
To assess risk and manage it effectively whilst ensuring maximum ‘risk tolerance’ that facilitates the young person’s recovery, in line with risk policies and local guidelines.
To work in partnership with other agencies, for example signposting to external community leisure resources
