Job Description

As a Systems / Software Engineer in Keysight’s Aerospace & Defence Custom Solutions (ADCS) group you will work as part of a highly talented and passionate multi-discipline team that develops and delivers world class custom test solutions. You will utilize your technical expertise, innate curiosity and creativity to gain a deep understanding of customer needs, map out customer requirements and propose solutions. You will architect, design and develop solutions prior to delivery.


This role presents an exciting opportunity to become a key contributor in the creation of software to control and make complex measurements that are used to evaluate the performance of customer devices (such as radar and satellite systems and parts thereof). You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from initial customer proposal to final customer acceptance. You will frequently and directly collaborate with customers at a technical level.

ADCS Edinburgh exists primarily to serve European customers. We operate as part of a worldwide team headquartered in Loveland, Colorado. We work with customers on a wide variety of technologies primarily in the Radar, EW and Satellite domains. We collaborate with Keysight’s solutions, sales and services teams to provide differentiated solutions that fit our customers’ unique needs.


Experience and Qualifications

· Bachelors or Masters Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Computer Science

· Typically 5+ years relevant experience; a good engineering background

· System design expertise (preferably in Test & Measurement. i.e. instrumentation, remote-control and test automation)

· Software design expertise (requirements analysis, problem decomposition, system architecture, module definition, test definition)

· C# desirable but would consider strong skills in similar languages

· NI TestStand and LabVIEW desirable

· Working knowledge of the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE and .NET

· Linux development (desirable)

· Working knowledge of source control techniques and tools (e.g. TFS, Git, Sourcetree, Atlassian tools)

· Working knowledge of RF concepts, components, circuits and test


The successful applicant will also have:

· Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to work collaboratively within a team and directly with customers

· A passion and proven ability for practical problem-solving

· A methodical and thorough approach to documentation and test

· Knowledge of project management and business processes

· The ability and drive to organize their work in a complex, multi-national environment
