Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our busy team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to provide administration support for the service.

The aim of the School Crossing Patrol Service is to ensure that children and adults can travel easily and safely whilst on their journeys to and from school. Staffordshire County Council has managed the School Crossing Patrol (SCP) Service since 1993 following its transfer from Staffordshire Police. The service operates at 250 sites across Staffordshire.

Main Responsibilities

You’ll be required to:

  • provide administrative support to the School Crossing Patrols Service Manager and the team whilst being a first point of contact for enquiries.
  • use departmental databases and systems and the full range of Microsoft packages as part of your varied daily work.
  • maintain and monitor ICT systems including the input and retrieval of data
  • design and development of information and promotional material for patrols and communities to promote road safety initiatives.
  • produce high level, accurate documents such as reports and collation of data.
  • minute taking at meetings.
  • assist with the delivery of training sessions (e.g., induction, on-site and safeguarding) for the patrols by organising and record keeping.

This role is predominantly office based in Stafford, although there is some flexibility for remote working as and when business needs allow.

The Ideal Candidate

With previous experience of providing administrative support, you’ll also need to be able to work in a team, have good organisational skills and a excellent ICT skill (including MS Office).

You’ll also need:

  • good communication skills because you’ll interact with many people across the organisation and externally through phone, post, in person and by email.
  • a flexible approach as sometimes things can change, so you’ll need to be able to prioritise work and sometimes change tasks quickly, often thinking on your feet.
  • an ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • be creative, with a good attention to detail.
  • and a passion to always give the best service.

If you’re looking for a great development opportunity but are unsure whether your experience or skills are suitable please get in touch with the recruiting manager:
