Job summary

This role will sit within the SF People Team providing support to the Learning and Skills Development (L&SD) and the Human Resources teams. These teams sit within the Operational Services and Transformation (OST) team, which leads organisation-wide change.

The L&SD team works with all areas of Scottish Forestry to implement and evaluate the Learning and Skills Development Strategy which captures, prioritises, delivers and evaluates Learning and Skills Development needs in line with the Agency’s Strategic Objectives and Corporate Plan.

The HR team provides operational and strategic advice and support to Senior Managers, Line Managers and staff across the entire range of HR services, including case management, policy development, resourcing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Payroll services and HR systems are provided via a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with our sister Agency Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) therefore close partnership working with the FLS People team will be crucial in this role.

We are seeking a flexible, confident, organised Administration Support Assistant to support the administration of our learning experience platform and co-ordinate and administer all L&SD activity. In addition you will provide support to the HR team which makes this a multifaceted, busy role. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues across the business while balancing administrative priorities.

Previous experience in L&SD and HR is not essential, however you should have strong administrative skills. An interest in improving systems and processes is essential. You should also have a passion for providing excellent customer service and be able to manage a variety of different tasks.

Job description

You will work with the Learning and Skills Development Team to administer the Scottish Forestry learning section on the Scottish Governments Learning Experience Platform, Pathways and provide administrative support to the HR function.

To be successful in this role, you will require the ability to organise your workload and be comfortable with addressing potentially conflicting priorities. The ability to adapt to change is essential. You will work closely with others and will require strong and effective communication skills. You should be methodical and organised with exceptional attention to detail and be confident in using a full range of IT and systems.

Whilst supporting the HR function you may have access to personal sensitive information therefore the ability to act with integrity and observe confidentiality will be essential.

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience of working in an administrative role.
  • Ability to plan, organise and manage own workload
  • High levels of attention to detail
  • Ability work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communications skills both written and verbal
  • Experience of working with range of different stakeholders, senior management and colleagues across the organisation.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with business systems such as HR, Payroll, Learning and Development.
  • Organising and maintaining administrative systems.


Technical

Essential:

  • Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, especially Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Desirable:

  • HNC/HND in Business Administration
