The role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Post Completions Paralegal to join us as an integral part of the Post Completions team within our Band 1 Real Estate department.

Our Real Estate Department is one of the largest and most experienced in the UK. We have over 100 real estate lawyers, offering our clients efficient and bespoke services to support their needs. We are regularly called upon to provide guidance on large and complex transactions across the UK working for investors, developers and commercial occupiers.  

This is a varied role assisting in the smooth operation of the post completions workflow by managing Post Completion tasks efficiently.

Role responsibility

  • Managing a caseload dealing with various registrars, preparing, drafting and submitting applications to Land Registry, seeing them through to completion
  • Registration and satisfaction of legal charges and debentures with Companies House
  • Communicating with clients and third parties such as HMRC, solicitors, lenders, HMLR
  • Calculating, drafting and submitting residential and commercial SDLT returns, processing payments.
  • Completing research around registration procedures, performing Land Charges (including bankruptcy) and property searches for the allocated caseload.
  • Serving notices of charge and assignment on completion of residential transactions (eg: to inform the relevant party in writing that a mortgage or purchase/sale has taken place
  • Handling requisitions raised by the Land Registry and Companies House, liaising with other parties in respect of issues raised during the registration process.
  • Dealing with pre-submission and registration queries.
  • Ad-hoc Paralegal tasks to support fee earners and client service needs when necessary.

About you

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a similar role with exposure to post completions processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to manage your own workload in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise as necessary.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to delivering excellent client service.
  • An euthanasic team player with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce accurate, correctly presented documents.
  • Confidence with online platforms such as: Land Registry, Companies House and HMRC, PLC and Lexis.
