This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst continuing to be two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowance and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role
Digital devices and information communication technology are present in almost every investigation the police undertake. These range from complex corporate computer networks and high capacity server/workstations, to mobile phone handsets, game consoles and satellite navigation.
The increased demand for digital forensic services has resulted in a re-structure of the Digital Forensic Team (DFT), to transform service delivery and to improve resilience.
Applications are now invited for the post of Digital Forensic Administration Assistant based at Haywards Heath within the Surrey and Sussex Digital Forensic Team (DFT). This is a vital role in a dynamically evolving digital forensic investigations unit.
Key Responsibilities
Provide support to the Digital Forensic Team by accepting submissions into the unit in accordance with standard operating procedures and other relevant guidance and work instructions, maintaining DFT records and the outsourcing process.
Accountable for exhibit handling and continuity into the unit and all administrative duties associated with this process. A sound knowledge of the governing legislation is required.
Dealing with all telephone calls and email queries into the unit, and arranging appointments for officers to visit and review work.
Keeping accurate and up to date records of all cases in the unit and all correspondence using a case management system.
Skills & Experience
The post holder will require 5 GCSEs A-C grade including Maths and English.
They will also be IT literate and be able to demonstrate their experience using a wide variety of computer applications.
Strong communication skills - to be able to negotiate and influence investigators, with an ability and experience to communicate at all levels both internally and externally.
Attention to detail is vital as this role sets the foundation for the rest of the work in the unit therefore also requiring good planning and organisation skills in a fast paced ever changing environment.
Previous experience of record keeping. Capable of absolute discretion when dealing with casework of a highly sensitive and confidential nature.
