Career Graded PO3-PO5: Starting salary GBP44,862 per annum rising in annual increments to GBP54,135 per annum incl LW
Optional 8% Recruitment and Retention allowance for experienced Lawyers on PO4/5, subject to terms & conditions.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Council's legal department for an Adults Social Care Lawyer to join our team.
This is a varied role, and the successful candidate will be expected to juggle a busy and challenging caseload.
This role requires a highly competent, qualified lawyer, with experience of a breadth of adult community care and litigation work and some children's services work (not child protection) ideally within a local authority setting. The successful candidate must be professional and have an organised approach to their work.
You will be responsible for delivering advice and legal support to the Council in the areas of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983 and associated legislation, and some aspects of the Children Act 1989, assisting the Senior Lawyer in ensuring that the Council receives cost-effective high-quality advice and representation.
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives or equivalent relevant qualification, ideally within the public sector. You will be familiar with (including related topics): Court of Protection proceedings, Judicial Review, Ordinary residence, Leaving Care duties of Children's Services under section 17 Children Act 1989. You will be experienced in drafting legal documents and legal correspondence, giving specialist legal advice, gathering and analysing information to support actions, filing documents at court and dealing with the administration associated with litigation.
You will be competent at legal research and comfortable dealing directly with clients, solicitors, barristers and court personnel.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and comfortable with using their initiative to complete tasks assigned to them. As a career graded post, essential and desirable qualifications and experience for each grade is set out in the job description and person specification.
The successful candidate will be flexible, able to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines and work as part of a team on their own initiative.
