Job Description

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team operates on our shopfloor and plays a critical role of being the connector between different departments guaranteeing seamless operation of our facility - Rotating Machines Rugby. Reporting to the Manufacturing Readiness Leader, this team is key in ensuring the continuous delivery and improvement of our production plant.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Ensuring prior preparations, tools and equipment are ready for production to start on time and, where it is not, taking ownership of finding workaround solutions prior to manufacture.
  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of assigned engineering projects from a Manufacturing Readiness perspective.
  • Controlling budgets, schedules, plans and reporting on the project's status for tooling, technology development and equipment implementation prior to manufacture.
  • The ability to create and analyse mechanical designs of tooling and technologies, using calculations, finite analysis methods and CAD (including preparations of technical drawings and Bills of Materials where required).
  • Interacting with Manufacturing Technicians, interpreting their needs and requirements, and representing them in Engineering design reviews and supplier tooling design discussions to ensure their needs are met for problem-free builds.
  • Providing technical leadership and active support of the project builds during execution.
  • Establishing production test methods for monitoring quality and repeatability.
  • Procurement of new project specific tooling and new CAPEX plant equipment. Highlighting proposals for equipment and tooling upgrades for consideration in site investment plans.
  • Planning and coordinating the installation/commissioning of new plant equipment and project tooling, negotiating best prices and delivery with suppliers.
  • Support advancing the competitive position of GE's products through continuous improvement of processes.
  • Working cross functionally as part of a global GE team to ensure our customers (both external and internal) are satisfied with their experience of dealing with us.

This is not an extensive list and the role may evolve to incorporate other tasks according to the business’ requirement. We welcome people with previous commercial experience as well as those at the beginning of their career.

We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Manufacturing / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field. HND/HNC in Engineering/Manufacturing with demonstrated experience performing similar roles may also be considered.
  • Good organizational, time management, and decision-making skills. Methodical worker with attention to detail. Structured in approach and well organised. A team-player who communicates openly.
  • Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of design and visualization software.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined project team, whilst working on multiple projects and delivering to EHS, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics.
  • Flexibility to work afternoon shifts, odd hours and travel on occasion when required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation.

  • Experience with 3D design software (Creo, SolidWorks or similar)
  • Possession of or ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
