Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:

Who will you be supporting and what is important to us?
  • I am a young adult male with autism, My Autism means that I cannot tolerate people placing demands on me, I can be sensitive to overly stimulating environments
  • I have had a long stay in a hospital environment and I have support 24/7, it is so important for my staff team to understand how difficult I find transitions and meeting new people. I need plenty of time and patience to adapt and build relationships with people.
  • You will contribute and work towards a psychologically safe environment for me, yourself, and your colleagues. You will be able to approach each day with a fresh, positive outlook
  • I require consistent support from a team I trust and feel safe with, so you must be committed and reliable.
  • You will be supporting them to work towards person-centered outcomes, which to them is to feel safe to live the life they choose, no pressure and no demands.
Other information?
  • The property is a single occupancy flat within a block within the community, for a person with Autism and Mental Health support needs, they are quite an able person who enjoy walking and visiting the local community, especially the local café’s.
  • Regular buses link Woodseats to all other areas of Sheffield which has many café’s and cultures to explore and find a place to belong.

  • We are looking for a team of multi-skilled Advanced Support Workers who have significant experience of delivering support underpinned by Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) principles
  • You will be required to provide trauma-informed support that follows structured clinical guidance, building on what currently works well for them. Experience of supporting a person with Autism and Mental Health conditions would be advantageous.
Shifts and availability?
  • We are looking for a mixed team of people who are flexible to work 2:1 shifts 24/7, this includes through the night on a rota basis.

Your values:

The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 in Social Care and strong experience in mental health, autism and sensory communication, and physical health.

If you do not have a qualification, you will need to have experience in social care.

You will know how to connect with people and be passionate about supporting people to live independently. You will also be a brilliant mentor and share your skills and experiences with your colleagues.

We will develop your talents with a range of specialist training, including the opportunity to learn Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton and the Picture Exchange System.

During recruitment you will meet the people we support in their home. This will allow you to see their wonderful personalities first-hand and fully understand the level of support that they require.
